“Drive-In” is a disheartened song about being on the receiving end of someone else’s indecision. It’s the first sign of healing on a fresh wound after dealing with the loss of what could have been. When someone else's doubt causes you to question yourself, you have to learn how to put yourself first. Self care can come in a lot of different forms. In this case, it was getting dressed up & driving out to a drive-in theater in the middle of the pandemic alone in an attempt to escape the internal & surrounding chaos.

lyrics

Lyrics by Ivan Barry, Zach Boucher, & Brian McShea

Lately the wind’s been taking out of my sail
I’ve got no breath left, my lungs are ready to fail
I’m empty and awkward
And you can’t be bothered
Lately I’m dressing up for dates with myself
I can’t have you and don’t want anyone else
So I’ll sit at this drive-in
And text you how I’ve been

Let me know, if it’s patience that you need
Let me know, I’ll keep waiting til you see
That you’re missing out on half of something
And live with doubts you’re not confronting
Oh oh oh, is it patience that you need?

I’ll keep the tent I bought for Joshua Tree
I’ll pack it up here in the passenger seat
If you still wanna come
I can put it in my trunk
But lately, I’m thinking that we’re not gonna work
The less I hear from you the more that it hurts
Please let me know
Or please let me go

Please let me know
Or please let me go

Let me know, if it’s patience that you need
Let me know, I’ll keep waiting til you see
That you’re missing out on half of something
And live with doubts you’re not confronting
Oh oh oh, is it patience that you need?
